Adirondack Park
Parks could all fit inside its borders. The Camp takes full advantage of the wild rivers, alpine summits, wilderness trails
and thousands of lakes in our backyard.
The Park was founded in the late 1800s, There are famous wild rivers, ancient forest that were here when America
was discovered and thousands of pristine lakes and ponds. The high mountains are home to arctic plants left by the
last ice age. The majestic Hudson River has its source high in these Adirondack peaks.
The size of the Park sets it apart from almost every other wild area in the nation. It is the largest wilderness area in the Eastern half of the United States. The technological world can seem far away. There are no sounds of highways or airports, Wildlife abounds here, with moose, otters, bobcats, loons and eagles in great numbers.
When you come to Woodcraft you’ll see the Adirondacks. You’ll climb its mountains, hike its long and short trails and
canoe its rivers. You’ll enjoy the pure air and water all around you, and the great diversity of living things that surround the camp.
